Why is a
program like
BITS needed?

*80% of first time horse
owners get rid of their
horse within 5 years.

*In just nine years (1997-
05), The equine
population in the United
States has expanded
from 6.9 million to 9.2
million horses, an
increase of 33%.

*Meanwhile, the number
of horse owners has
risen from 1.9 million to
2.0 million, a modest
increase of only about
5%.

*Most neglect and abuse
cases can be resolved
through owner
education. Educational
programs using existing
resources should be
developed and
accessible to all facets of
society."— USDA

These facts and quotes
are from the
Equinedentistry.com site
The average cost of euthanasia and removal of an equine is
$300- $500 or more . In today's economy many horse owners
have opted to forgo humane euthanasia and settle for less
expensive options such as taking horses to auctions, setting
them loose, surrendering them to rescues or attempting to put
them down themselves.

Back In The Saddle is here to offer assistance. We offer
financially challenged horse owners with an alternative and
allow injured , old and sick equines a peaceful passing.
Owners are invited to stay for the service to say goodbye.

Our hope is that we will not only offer relief to a horse but also
help the horse owners who have had to  watch helplessly as
their pet suffers.

Please note horses MUST meet AAEP guidelines for
euthanasia to be accepted into the clinic.
Horses that do not meet the guidelines can be surrendered so
they can find a new home.

Donations to keep this important program going are most
